Social Responsibility

We make sure to base our business practices on the triple-bottom line: people, planet and profit.  We believe that these three are inextricably tied to our mission of greening the built environment.

To this end, we make West Coast Green as accessible as possible to those with financial and socio-economic barriers and we integrate economic and social issues in the curriculum.

Some of our specific efforts have included:

  • Founding The West Coast Green Scholarship Fund to open the doors of the conference to emerging leaders who cannot afford a full pass, and including the option to donate to the Scholarship Fund during the registration process.
  • Offering 50 tribal members complimentary full conference passes and hosting a special Tribal Summit to address relevant issues
  • Holding a charette to design a Sustainable West Oakland.  The ideas were submitted to the city of Oakland.
  • Holding a Green for All Day of Action on site, contributing to their public awareness and petition campaign.
  • Inviting green job trainees for a special hosted opportunity to see Al Gore, walk the tradeshow floor, and meet select press.
  • Giving Life-cycle Building Challenge contestants complimentary conference passes.
  • Offering non-profit employees and students discounts on registration
